Survey: Politic involvement

I wanted to see how many young people are involved in modern political life. Nowadays we can see some kind of political Renaissance in Russia. But what do students of universities do in this sphere?

My first question was to define person's age.
Approximately half of the respondents are twenty years old. The numbers of people, who are 18 (24%) and 19 (21%) are almost equal. And people above 20 are the minority (14%).

The second question was whether the person was interested in politics.
The majority of respondents (70%) are interested in politics. Others are not. So, here we can see that the number of people in politics has twice outpaced the number of indifferent people.

I wondered how many of students participated in political life of their town or city. And I asked them about it.

And almost half of people (49%) don’t do anything connected with politics in their city or town. 13% of respondent, if I can say that, are "activists". And a bit more than one thirds of students participate rarely. Strange results, if we look on the previous question.

My next question was: "Do you think Russia has an active and strong civil society?"
The half (49%) of respondents are sure about the fact that Russia has a strong and active civil society.  27% of students said "No". A bit less (24%) of people are not sure.
So, here we can see that 51 of students can consider Russia's civil society as nonoperating or even non-existent.

Then I asked students about their political coordinates.

According to the results, Left-wing (30%) prevails over Right one (24%). 14% of respondents have moderate views on politics. And there are a lot of people who do not associate themselves with political movements (32%).

So, in this survey we can see that there are still a lot of young people out of politics. But among those who are in politics the Left-wing seems to be more popular then Right-wing or Centrist position. Young people are interested in politics in general, but only few of them participate in political life of country. I guess, those who are in political life of Russia make the big part of country's Civil Society.

Too adrenaline buzzes

A sea, a sun… What could be better than a relaxing day on the beach?

To sit there under the sun, feeling the warmth of it touching your skin and feel the soft smooth sand beneath your feet. You can see the water; it is clear and rich deep blue in color. Seagulls are flying around, but their blathering doesn’t disturb the atmosphere of peace and quiet. Time to time, you look into the cloudless cerulean blue sky and see the perfection of life. You can see all the sights of summer; children are building sand castles along the oceans edge, elderly couples are indulged in good books. Gradually, you close your eyes, letting yourself to enjoy the sounds of the ocean, its rhythmic pounding of the waves, which represses all of your worries. Finally, you are at the point where your skin can no longer take the harsh rays of the blistering summer sun.  You want to run as fast as your feet can carry you toward to an endless pool of crystal blue water.

On your way to the sea, your eyes quiet suddenly notice a big, bright signboard “WATER RIDES”. Something clicks in your head. You have an uncontrolled wish for having a ride on one of these attractions. You certainly don’t know how this trip could end and without thinking about anything, you are going directly to the reception desk of these attractions.

You see a huge variety of entertainment which is presented to you. WOW! So many possibilities! Here “tablet”, “banana”, “butterfly” are yellow looking things tied to a speed motorboat, which accelerates very quickly and you feel like flying over the waves, all possible types of trips on a parachute, quad bike and jet ski, also, are provided to you. Yeah, that's exactly what you want. A little thought, you decide to ride on the “tablet”. This is so much fun!

Now you're standing on the beach, in anticipation of your little journey, waiting for your turn. The assistant gave you a protective jacket to keep you safe in case of a sudden drop in to the water. The vest is little for you and has a smell of something incomprehensible and disgusting. But these are little things, which are not worth your attention. So, it's your turn. You were put in a chair of this funny ride. The fun is starting!
Very slowly, the boat picks up speed, nice breeze pulls your hair. The warm rays of the sun warm you and smile appears on your face.

Without warning, your feet move above your head.
It does not, already, seem that the boat is slowly wallowing, and is jumping the waves at the speed of light.

Gentle breeze turns into a terrible whirlwind, which tries to tear your hair. Salt sprays sprinkle  your face and deprive you of air. You do not feel warm, you have a feeling that you are at the North Pole, despite the fact that the temperature around is + 30 degrees.

At some point, you begin to imagine that you will spend the rest of your life in the hospital with a broken spine, because every time, when the boat jumps on the wave, you hit your back and a head on the bumpers of the “tablet”.
Fortunately, after a few minutes this incredible journey comes to an end and you are barely alive laying out on the land. Now you have something to tell your relatives, and something that you will never forget.

So, if you want to spend your annual vacation in a bed, complaining on pain all over the body, you should try this type of entertainment.

Now, anticipating the Christmas holidays, maybe you have already started to plan your holiday in the warm parts of the world. So, do you want to have something familiar in your feature trip? According to majority of people under forty years you ask, will say that it is one of their favorite vacation preferences to go for a spin on water ride. Despite the fact that almost everyone gets injuries during this trip.
In concordance with the Minister of Tourism and Resorts of Сrimea Sergei Kiriyenko, rides in the resort towns are dangerous for tourists. For example, in August 2015, on the coast of the Lazarev district of Sochi a boat has faced and towed by watercraft "tablet". As the result, a 21-year-old girl who had come on the resort from the Tula region was killed.

There are some reasons of such terrible accidents:
The owners of the water entertainment equipment don’t comply with the safety rules, as the result, there are accidents and falling of travelers.  For example, in pursuit of earnings, owners often take on board more passengers than the water attraction сan hold, or owners don’t check the technical conditions of the rides, where breakage can happen. Moreover, most water activities, offered to tourists on the coast, are illegal.

The Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko, in his speech to the holidaymakers emphasized that tourists should be vigilant and that they should follow these tips:

  • Carefully study the rules of using attraction;
  • Follow safety precautions during  the using attraction;
  • When you are choosing a ride, consider the state of your health.
However, many tourists like these rides  and do not find anything wrong in them.

So, a holidaymaker from Aleksin, said:
“I rode a "Banana" this summer in Abkhazia. I really liked it. It is unforgettable experience. At first, I thought that this attraction was not safe, but I was surprised how fun and easy it was. Next year, I’ m planning to ride it once again”.

If you behave cautiously and wisely and don’t ignore basic security measures, active holidays on the sea will deliver you a lot of fun! You should take into account your medical conditions before allowing yourself to go on certain high speed rides. Some rides can be very frightening and stressful for you and your children and should be avoided.

Where do we study?

We all know our University as “The Best Specialized University in Russia”, but what does it mean? Is it really so? Everybody thinks that it is connected with study and high-qualified teachers in our University. But what do students of TSPU think about the quality of education?

56 students of different ages (18-21) from different faculties took part in the small survey that revealed the following results: the majority of respondents said that they are displeased with the quality of education in TSPU and think that the university needs some modernization and improvement.

More than 90% of respondents think that there is lack of TV sets and interactive boards in our classrooms and about 75% agreed that we need more modern course books, some of them explained that the university has to buy books printed  by well-known publishers or pay more attention to the  quality of our “native” books.  Moreover, more than 60% of students insist on a necessity of highly-qualified specialists, and some of them added that the majority of teachers who work now ran out of steam. The situation with facilities is the same: more than half of respondents strongly agree, that the head of TSPU should think about its improvement.

The answers to only one question can prove the status of our university. Students don’t want to have more lessons in their major (about 90% said that they have enough lessons in their class timetable which are connected with their future profession).

But unfortunately, the last question showed that students compare our university with others and the thing is that they are not sure TSPU is better than a place where their friends study (about 60%).

Taking everything into consideration, we can see the huge quantity of gaps in our University, and students can`t change anything themselves. It is a responsibility of the head of TSPU and he has to care for improvement of our student life.

Survey: Future Profession

It' so important in our world to do the things you enjoy to do. The profession takes the hugest part of people's lifes, so if you satisfied with your profession one can say, you satisfied with your life. Many school graduates are on the crossroad, they don't know what they want. It often happens that people go to the university that they don't like and study without pleasure. How many people consciously made a choice? Are students determined? Are they satisfied with chosen university? To answer these questions I asked the students of TSPU about their thoughts on the theme. In this survey 130 respondents took part.

The first question was "Do you know what you want to do in future?"
39% of respondents answered "Yes"
21% answered "No"
and 40% of respondents are not sure in their choice
According to this replies, we can see that the biggest part of students don't know what they suppose to do in future. Only 39% are totally determined.
The second question was "Are you planning to work in the field of your diploma?" This issue worried me the most.

As we see, more than a half of students don't plan to work in the field of their diploma, only 47% do. So, many students go to their faculty because of despair or other reasons.
If the students are even so uncertain about their future and profession, I wondered about their priorities. The next question I asked was "What's more important in your life: career, family or friends?"
The picture is the most clear because the majority (78%) said than it's family. 14% put the career on the first place in life and only 8% decided that it's friends.
On the question "What's more important in your profession money or pleasure?" I heard the answers that shown on the diagram:

Money and pleasure are equal for the most of people. Glad to see some people for whom pleasure is the most important thing because suppose to be masters of their business.
And the last but not least question was asked. I interested whether the respondents want to work  in the field that they have chosen all their life or not. Let's look at the results.
It's almost equal. 49% for "Disagree" and 51% for "Agree". So interesting how one half want to be constant and the other is open to something new.

We can see how difficult to make a right dicision than should determine all your life. It can frighten young people. Uncertainty reigns. So, if you're a student, first of all, try to understand what you really like to do and what you wand from life. Listen to your heart and be open to new, don't afraid of trying something unusual. The choice of the future profession is a significant and very important step.
