Survey: Mobile phones vs technological progress

The mobile phones became a widespread only in the 90s of the last century. Many people believe that the mobile phone will soon lose its direct functions because of the rapid technological progress. The different age groups were asked about their preferences as a mobile phone (or a smartphone) users. This survey represents the opinion of people on the future of mobile phones.
Statement 1: «I often use the mobile phone to make calls»

The results: Age 16-21: 20%
                   Age 35-42: 70%
                   Age 50-65: 30%

As we see, the people at the age of 16-21 make calls less often than other groups. They explain this by saying they have no need to spend money on calls.

Statement 2: «I often use the mobile phone to SMS messages»

The results: Age 16-21: 50%
                   Age 35-42: 30%
                   Age 50-65: 10%

Again some of young people said that this type of communication is the «waste of money too. ». The most of people at the age of 35-42 say that touchscreen phones are not convenient for texting. For this reason, they prefer a quick call.
Statement 3: «I prefer to use special applications for calls and text messages. »

The results: Age 16-21: 90%
                   Age 35-42: 70%
                   Age 50-65: 30%

Respondents say that the use of such applications is much more convenient, faster and they need internet connection to work. The most popular applications are WhatsApp, Skype, Facetime and iMessage. People at the age of 50-65 say that they trained to use such applications to communicate with the family at a great distance.
Statement 4: «I have a positive attitude to the development of technologies in the field of mobile devices»

The results: Age 16-21: 95%
                   Age 35-42: 86%
                   Age 50-65: 50%

As it turned out, all groups understand the need to learn new technologies. Things that were new twenty years ago are losing their relevance today.  Of course, many middle-aged people are much more accustomed to traditional forms of communication (such as calls and SMS), but they are gradually adapting too.
