Olympic firebird went through Yasnaya Polyana

The firebird feather of Olympic Torch “went through” Yasnaya Polyana, while keeping its way to Sochi.

Yasnaya Polyana took part in the Olympic Fire Relay on October 14

The Relay started from Yasnopolyanskaya Gymnasium and continued  in Leo Tolstoy Museum. The arrival of the Fire was marked by firework volley and greeting applause of hundreds of people who came to meet the famous Symbol of the Olympics 2014, mostly citizens from Schekino and Tula.

Famous journalists, writers and literature critics carried the Olympic Torch . Leo Tolstoy’s descendant Vladimir Tolstoy started the relay, the director of museum Ekaterina Tolstaya finished the ceremony.

“This is the Fire from Greece. The Relay was handed to Leo Tolstoy by Homer himself. From the author of “Iliad” and “Odyssey” to the author of “War and Peace” and “Anna Carenina”, - Vladimir Tolstoy said during the Olympic Fire performance. “Lev Nikolaevich himself was a very sporty person. He skated perfectly, cycled and was involved into many other kinds of sport.”

In honor of the Olympic Relay the Museum organized a grandiose festival, . Folk ensembles and a lot of young volunteers and teenage actors participated in the performance during the colorful concert.

After Yasnaya Polyana the Olympic Fire will go through Novomoskovsk, the working city of Tula Region.
